Dollymix Vintage...

My new venture is making cakes for Dollymix Vintage... A beautiful shop full of vintage treasures in the centre of town. I have made them 24 cakes tonight to try out in the shop tomorrow and saturday. I made 6 different kinds of cake. I made lemon meringue cupcakes. I made carrot cupcakes. I made cherry bakewell cupcakes. I made guinness choc cupcakes. I made cherry cupcakes. I made vanilla cupcakes. Ta da.
The boys mum and dad are in town. I love his dad, I have just met his ma. Also nice.

Like it matters but I was a bit nervous.

I can't write any more. I am in the pub and I am being rather ignorant.

Ciao for now. xx

Being part of X-factor sweepstakes is putting me on edge...

Its been a fair while since I last bothered to write... I've been working HARD. Busy busy busy. So the latest gossip is nothing. The boy apologised for being an asshole which was nice but he still doesn't get it. Oh well. Least everything is good between us. He got drunk on thursday and said some lovely lovely things. Shame is he cant remember saying any of it and thinks I was making it up which I was not which is SHIT. But I still know what he said and it was lovely and heartwarming whether he knows or not.

Dee and his wife have had a baby. Funny how time flies. I remember seeing them near the start of the pregnancy and that seems like yesterday. Hmmm. Awww.

I had my roots dyed so i know longer look bald.

The boy stayed over last night and he smells so good.

I have decided i am gonna try and compile a list of my loves....

LIST OF LOVES:

1. Food tube on super size vs. super skinny.

2. Baking cupcakes.

3. Open fires.

4. Autumn when it doesnt rain.

5. Making dinner with the boy.

6. Dating in the Dark (the programme).

7. The way the boy smells.

8. Going for long dinners with the girls where we can talk about stuff for hours.

9. Shoes. Shoes. Shoes - to the tune of girls, girls, girls by Motley Crue.

10. Magazines. I estimate at least one fifth of my wages is spent on magazines.

11. Waking up and seeing the boys face.

12. Shauns handlebar moustache (short-lived, but entertaining all the same).

13. New York City.

14. Andrew McCarthy.

15. A tidy room.

16. Singing.

17. Going out dancing.

18. Kissing the boy... A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

19. Fresh flowers.

20. Cooking on an AGA.

21. Dreaming of things. Kam is my partner in crime for being a dreamer. We love it.

22. Saturdays.

23. Cadburys Dairy Milk Golden Crisp.

24. http://www.nataliedee.com/

25. Bassett Hounds, Newfoundlands, St. Bernards, Old English Sheepdogs.

26. The smell of cut grass in the summer.

27. Dancing in warm rain.

28. Messing about in the snow with the boy.

29. Fireworks.

30. Playing boardgames with my favourite people in all the world.

31. Living with Lar & Zod.

32. The South of France.

33. Watching horrific TV with Lar & Zod. I wholeheartedly apologise to our neighbours. We are not being killed. We're watching embarrassing bodies.

Thats it for now.

Just so you know I started writing this on saturday afternoon and got to numero 17. Then saturday night happened and this morning I carried on. The weekend was eventful.

I'm not quite sure what to say. I dont want serious things. Why do we have to talk. I want it to be fun. Just let go.

Irish Goodness

So on the boys return from Ireland I received a few amazing bars of chocolate and a penny whistle which was my surprise. Ooooh maybe I will actually try and learn it and be rather impressive. It has instructions you know. Maybe I wont. Haha. Can you imagine... "Oh boyyy check me out! *plays penny whistle while doing some kind of embarrassing mum dance* how do you like me noowwwww?" Cue boy running to the hills whilst trying to stifle nervous laughs hahaha.

And as much as I thought he was amazing for all that and making me the best sandwich in the world on thursday after he had been travelling all.day.long. and giving me amazing hugs while he smelled of holiday showers and was all beautiful and hot hot hot. We still had an argument on the weekend and now I am sure he hates me.

Damn it. Why cant I uphold the goodness.

"We wasted the good surprise on you..."

So then I had another birthday order for a little girl. My pal at work asked me for some pretty pink swirly cakes. I did just that and also made a pink and white sponge. I swirled the cupcakes with pink butter icing which i sprinkled with hot pink glitter for a subtle shimmer and then put a white glitter heart on top. Nicccceee.

They were for her party so I bet the kids were a right handful after consuming the sugary goodness. Running riot. Running. Riot. hahha

Birthday cakes

Soooo... My buddy my pal James Bates had me make some cakes for his lovely birds birthday... I did. He wanted them to be a bit cute a bit sexy so I did pink and black. Black choc guinness cake pink baileys icing and black sprinkles... I bet James was well in the good books when he produced these bad boys. Happy Birthday Ami!!!!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Awww the boy is back from Ireland soon... tonight tonight... I'm counting down the hours. I got butterflies.

Tuesday, 13 October 2009

It is officially....

... winter. Well it feels like it. It's baltic out. I have seen a big fat flava flave fur coat in Catherines vintage shop. I reckon I'm gonna snap it up. It's sooo cosy. I'll look like a big bear or a complete nob but either way I will be warmo. I do like the cold. I like seeing my breath and things. It means you can snuggle down at night and get warm and the boy can light fires and we can get toasty.

Talking of the boy. He is in Ireland. Boo. I want to be in Ireland. Ireland is nice and would be somewhere nice to be cold and snuggly. With fires and alcohol. Oh gettin dreamy now. Snap out of it Girl you're at work! I am early today. I have the car. I didnt leave til 7 last night. I feel like a I live here a bit at the mo. Meh.

Gonna bake later have to make cakes for young James... a different one... its his girlfriends birthday so you know. He wants cute pink and black numbers. I also have some more kids cakes to make for saturday. I am trying to keep busy til hes back.

Nice dinner in with the girls last night. We made leek, spring onion, bacon & mushroom tagitelle. Was so nice. A bit of Hells Kitchen. I love Gordon Ramsey programmes. The boy thinks there should be more and then a Gordon Ramsey channel. I whole heartedly agree. Although I do think he's a bit over the top. It was a USA episode last night, he called one man a thick C***. Well. Personally I think it was uncalled for but then again I didnt know the man. Maybe he was. Hahahah.

Someone in the office is talking about how busy she was yesterday and how she is annoyed with people and she used the phrase "I was so mad I was shitting a cheese sandwich" WHAT THE?!?!!? Thats the funniest thing I have heard in at least a week!! hahahahahahah. Oh I love it here.

BOO.

Apparently there was an "early flood" as opposed to a late one at work this morning. It must have been from a tap because I havent witnessed any rain... and it means the restaurant will be limited today. WHYYYY. On a day where I feel like I could eat and eat. Theres no salad bar and probably only jacket potatoes. Hmph. Probably a good thing. Then I wont be able to eat. I'm not having a jacket potato. No.

I dont like eating. Especially at work. It makes me sleepy. I like eating with the boy. Maybe I should only eat when with him. Then the way things are at the moment I will not be eating much. Say hello to thin-ness. Marvellous.

Today I have in my possession....

Birthday cakes for Neal at work....

Enjoy your remaining years Neal.

Wednesday, 7 October 2009

Oh dear...

The boy brought round chocolate and diet coke. I think I love him.

He wins me over with a smile. Rubbish. I have a feeling this is going to end terribly hahah. Need to make more cakes.

Mehhhh

I am wondering what to do with my life. The boy is doing my head in. He's just too lush. I have been drunk for two days trying to figure out what to do. But I have mostly just been drunk and then forgetting anything I have thought. I spring cleaned the bottom floor of the house, its only a regular house, i make out it has many floors. It does not. It has the normal two floors, and whilst doing that I was thinking about things and decided I need to put my foot down and just stop doing whatever he asks me to do. I wonder really if he really even cares at all and he probably doesnt. Which is a bit depressing. But we must face facts and MAN UP.

I was thinking all of this and then was like yes I will have words and blah blah. Turns out I'm at his now and I have been out and brought him a subway. HAHAHAH. pathetic.
So it was a busier week in Bitsys Land of Cupcakery this week. As I say two bits of stuff to do cakes for James's work and Emma's daughters birthday cupcakes. Which I talked about below and the shitty bus journey and the tears etc. Well I did make them and I promise they were beaut. The photographic evidence features below...

She wanted vanilla sponge with choc goo middles and girly swirly icing so thats what I delivered. There were yellow swirls with lilac sprinkles and a sugarpaste heart covered in lime green glitter and then there were lilac swirls with pink sprinkles with purple glitter sugarpaste heart and last but not least there were pink swirls with yellow sprinkles and pink glittery sugar paste heart. They looked so sweet!
I had a little call from a Mr Dixon who asked me if I would make some cupcakes for his place of work...Nottingham Trent Student Union... So we did some in the shape of their logo which is this...

and yeah this is what they looked like....

They were Guinness choc cakes, again, everyone loves those, and then baileys icing on the top. Apparently the staff of Nottingham Trent Student union were very impressed.

I aim to please.

Mood.Mood.Mood.Mood.

Made cakes last night. Mixer blew up. I cried.

Mood.Mood.Mood.

Went out for Steve Loafs birthday dinner the boy said when I drink wine I am mean to him. FICTION.

Mood.Mood.Mood.Mood.

Brought the cakes to work. They looked like I had been ran over whilst holding them when I got to work to give them to Emma. I cried. I am very disappointed with myself. I'm never carrying cakes on the bus again. The bus driver was a shit and didnt wait til I sat down to move off and it all went wrong from there.

Mood.Mood.Mood.Mood.Mood.

Pictures of cakes later/tomorrow. Pictures of BEFORE bus tragedy. Not after.

Emma said they still looked amazing. I am not sure. Not sure at all.

The Mighty Thor...

Oh yeah...

I brought some new sprinkles and glitter. I got carried away on t'interweb.

I spent £60. Lets go mad shall we.

I LOVE GLITTER.

Even though its a right pain in the ass and gets everywhere. My kitchen is well glittery. Although I have to admit it... I do like that fact.

Men in kilts... Right or wrong? Gabby loves men in kilts. Although she also loves CK1, Simon Cowell, Jeff Stelling and Mr Joannu. OLD MEN WITH GREY BITS HONK HER HORN.

goodnight cake loverrrrrs. xxx

Hardcore baking....

The other night was Friday and instead of my usual "hardcore" drinking (really not that hardcore...1 wine and I'm chattering like i dont know what) I replaced it with hardcore baking.

Til 3am. GETTING STRESSED. I was supposed to be making test cakes for the nice people who have asked me to bake their wedding cupcakes. Now they wanted Burgundys and whites and silvers and glitters. WELL. making burgundy butter icing is the most arsehole thing to do in the world plus it was about 11pm and I couldnt make out whether it was the light being funny on my eyes or it just looked shit. Was it burgundy? Was it brown? I was only making six for them and it was starting to take over my life. It was all I had been thinking about for a whole week pretty much! What to do with them? Will they look good? Will they taste good? Will they like them...blah blah!

Well this is them...The colours are wrong. They didnt look that brown in the day... but still not burgundy as I would have liked. At the time when it was getting closer to 1am I thought I was going to smash all the cakes in. The red was just an example of some shimmery edible paint I had. It looks really garish in comparison with the others but oh well like I say they were just examples to be getting on with... They were glittery and swish and the insides were 2 guinness choc and three vanilla with gooey choc centre. Mmm mmm mmmmmm.

Friday, 25 September 2009

I'm not sure...

Danielles cupcake is still on her desk.

Hmmm.

It still looks awesome. But she could kill someone with it. Its hard as rock.

Charity bake sale UPDATE

Just got word from Anna that her bake sale landed her 150 squid. Which is fab. So combined with her housemate Penny's total from her bake sale. That makes £250!

Which just goes to prove... Pretty much everybody loves CAKE.

More baking, Welsh mountains & Wall climbing

So... went to Wales with the boy and it was a really nice day. Lovely seeing Jemma, Alex and the girls.

I made them some lovely cakes I made six one for Alex one for each of the three girls one for Jem and one for the baby inside of Jem. hahah.
They look nice. And apparently tasted fab. So thats all that matters.

Wales was pretty and the weather matched. Like I say... its always sunny when I drive with the boy...

The view from Jemmas front door...

Very welsh though.

Came home. Was all tired but went out and had a nice drink and fun with my friends.

Then on the saturday a civilised dinner at a Greek restaurant with the girls. Which ended up with me scaling walls and trying to get in gardens all for that all important photo opportunity.

It doesnt look very high. It was. I'm only short.

charity bake sale

Its been a little bit of a while since I have baked properly and blitzed it late into the night...my favourite... but last night I did. Anna at work was holding a charity bake sale for the Matt Hampson Trust & Special Effects charity...
http://www.matthampson.co.uk/
http://www.specialeffect.org.uk/

I said I would donate some cakes as its nice thing to do and I wanted to bake so this was a perfect reason to do so...

Anyhow...
First few cakes I did I made the rainbow cakes again this time adding a few cheeky M&Ms to the icing...

Ta daaa. Pretty. Little bit trippy. But awesome.

Next up!

Pretty girly cakes. With hand made roses on the top. Dipped in coloured sugars. With a dark chocolate ganache middle...yummy.

Check the roses out...pre sugar dip...Then the finished product...

And then last but not least...after sitting and concentrating on several roses I was pretty cream crackered since I did powerhouse at the gym and messed about and I hadnt eaten and it was about midnight... I made some cute little cakes that were vanilla sponge with a strawberry jam middle... Bonne Maman jam, I dont use crap, hahah.

And I decorated these as little beaches... hahahaha. I used blue butter icing for the sea with hints of white running through it for the white horses - frothy stuff on the waves - please say everyone calls them that... it might be another thing my nan has told me thats not true. (I didnt realise seahorses were real until Savvo said they had them at some garden centre/aquarium... Nana said they werent real when we used to watch Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Good one Nana!) and then yellow butter icing for the sand and then dipped in crushed digestive biccies. It really looks like sand!! I made a little towel out of rice paper and a little newspaper/book from icing. I was gonna make a little person to lay out on the towel but there was absolutely no way I could do that it was approaching 2am by this time!

SOOOOO the little things look like this.

I also baked tonight as I am going to Wales with the boy tomorrow and we are gonna see my friend Jemma who is big and pregnant so we're taking her a nice book and some yummy cakes. Its something to do.

I wanted to be in bed waaaaaay before now as I have a long drive ahead of me tomorrow morning. Sleepy sleepy byeeeee.

Will blog the rest another day, be happy with what you got. Don't take it for granted. NIGHT xx

Monday, 14 September 2009

Sincere apologiessss

I apologise to anyone that comes here to look at my cakes.

I suggest you ignore the terrible ramblings haha.

I promise a website just for cakes will be coming. Shaun is making it for me but he is learning so it might take a whileeeeeee..

Bits and Bobs

I was wandering through old posts and I had a look at the list of wants I made a while ago and thought I would see what I could cross off of it...

Have managed to cross off...

Box of paste colours.
Proper food.
The boy to come back.
Laptop.
New dress.

Sweet.

Remember how we had the soup challenge... well.... it finished. At midnight on 31st August me and the boy ordered pizza and ate it. hahah. This was the pizza. We were so excited...

Then on the 1st September we took holiday from work... Went to town. Had a little burger in BK. Went to Nandos had a little bit of spicey chicken. Bought a lovely apple. Walked to KFC bought KFC gravy and then on the walk back bought some chip shop chips and had chip shop chips and gravy. Yummy. We watched Dave Gorman til it was late and we were sleepy.

The best day.

So, as I mentioned last blog I had an order of cupcakes for the lovely Mrs V and I said I would wait and upload the photo gumph and then put the picture up...well...

Ta daaaa. The oreo goodness. You want these. And I don't blame you.

I was going to make cakes tonight for Sarahs leaving do at work, we're going for lunch... but she is actually leaving on friday so I think i will bake tomorrow.

I am now sat at Johns blogging because the football is on and I think England games are the most boring football games I have ever seen in my entire life.

I kind of wish I had stayed in and baked but I watched a documentary today ( as I had the day off) on 9/11 called 102 minutes or something. Now, I have watched all the docs going on 9/11 as I am weirdly fascinated by it, but this one was different, it was footage that has never been seen before and there was some traumatic shit on there. ANYWAY the reason I didnt stay in was because noone else was in and I did feel a bit traumatised so wanted to be around people. So here I am.

Today was nice, met the boy on his lunchbreak and went and had a nice lunch. Then went and bought my paste colours and had a wander, then had a wander back home. And it was soooo sunny and hot. And I did laundry and hung it out in the garden. And tidied my room. And danced about. di di di did ididi.

Baby joy....

So yesterday afternoon at work I was busily sitting drawing a comic... busily...hahaha.... when I received a call from a nice lady in Menswear asking if i would like to do an order of cakes for the next day! Woo. First bit of business in the outside world!

I totally will post a picture of them when i manage to get the damn photo onto this computer of doom!!

They were cookies and cream made with many many many oreos. Covered in cookies and cream butter icing also made with many oreos all battered with a rolling pin and mixed in. And then pop a little noggin of oreo cookie on the top and ta da extra oreo fabulousness.

There were 24 of them. And they were to wow people at her kids nursery with I think. What an awesome marketing idea....

Buy my cakes. Pretend you made them. Show off.

Made cakes.

Had an argument with the boy.

Left the cakes to cool while I also left the house to cool.

Saw Kam. Chatted til I had no chat left.

Boy apologised. Said hes got me a present. Mmmm.

Happily iced cakes.

Beddddddddd.

Dreams of cupcakes. boy. boy holding cupcake. cupcake holding boy.

PSSSSSSSSSSSSS...
My housemates sister has had a little baby girl. She's only a day old! Dulverton Palace is full of aunties now!! Well. 3.

Congratulations Anna baby cakes will be coming!!
I have not blogged for ages as I have been on a trip to Germany with work... I wanted to blog while I was out there as I have purchased a cute pink little netbook thing for that one and only purpose only to forget to sort out all my photo stuff on here therefore even though I took my leads so I could upload the inevitable photo opportunities onto here I could not as I hadnt thought to stick the software on. Good one. What a waste. Least I know for next time. I have managed to stick my actual camera photos on here but not the phone ones and that is the problem I had. Still havent bothered.Oh the laziness!!

So all in all I am writing to tell you I havent died. I have just been lazy. Whats worse?
The pretty garden at the hotel. I fell in love. Absolutely. Whole heartedly.

Lots of cakes for lots of people. Cookies & Cream. Raspberry & White Chocolate. Carrot. Guiness Chocolate cake. Rainbow Cake.

A lass called Danielle at work still has her rainbow cupcake on her desk. From last THURSDAY! Thats over a WEEK. She says its too pretty to eat!! Awww so cute!! I hope it doesnt go mouldy. Will it??? I suppose it probably will?

Its Fridayyyyyy....

...and I have decided that I am going to go to town with the cupcakes. I am gonna start making special things that are beyond your wildest dreams. I have one thing, which I have had in mind for a while now... Although I am not sure quite how to do it... I'm being very vague I know... But that's because I do not want to let the cat out of the bag just yet no no no.

But I thought I would mention it on here, not only because I havent had anything worthy to blog in two days, but also because I am trying to build suspense...rather woefully. HA.

So watch this space.

If anyone has anything good to say about me or my cakes... feel free to comment. Everybody loves a bit of feedback...

This guy is drawn by Natalie Dee. I have loved her work since me and Burt came across her website while bored working for MyCrapMove in 2002. hahaha

Result!!!

Manchester 0 - 1 Burnley!!!

I'm a united fan but I have a little soft spot for Burnley thanks to Shaun so I would've been happy with any result... Here's to the underdog!

Half day....

... at work and I am now sat on the internet wasting it... Does it count if the suns shining in through the window onto your head?

The song Who Knew by Pink is playing on some variety of music channel on sky... it really makes me think about Burt. To the point where my eyes begin to well a little bit.

"...I'll keep you locked in my head, until we meet again...I won't forget you my friend. What happened.... Time makes it harder I wish I could remember... But I keep your memory. You visit me in my sleep..."

I don't know what old Pink was singing about but it still hits a nerve a bit.

Once upon a time Burt came round with Boo (her little un) to make cakes. Except me and Burt got carried away and tried to take over... Poor old Boo didnt get a look in...
Burt & Boo baking... this photo really doesn't do the pair of them justice. My beautiful girls... I'll find something nice...
Kirstie Lois Holmes...
Such a poser. But the best friend. Such a funny bastard.

And with no further ado...may I introduce the little un... Brodie Scarlett Mimi Boo...

A poser just like her ma.

Shes well into baking... I promise she asks to do it... I dont even have to force her!

Birthday Baking...

So again its been an evening of baking. I'm sure if I didn't bribe my housemates with cake they would be well peeved at the mess I often make and all the pots and pans and baking parephenalia cluttering up the place. I have actually gone nuts for it.

SO its Helens birthday at work tomorrow... She asked for Guinness cakes as a birthday treat but due to being poorer than the old lady that lived in her shoe I couldnt come up with the ingredients to make them... Boo.

One day the little babies will pay for themselves and she will never have to go without again.

BUT... being as I have big big boxes of sugar and flour and mountains of butter and bits and bobs I could make some good old fashioned vanilla cupcakes...

Ta Daaah... These are them

Using what I could scrape together from my beautiful beautiful kitchen I made vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate buttercream oozing chocolate fudge ganache in the centre.

SO theyre still pretty special.

The girls at work really do benefit from my baking skills. Theyre awesome and believe in me a bit which is nice. So I'd like to say many thanks to them for being my guinea pigs!

THIS!

Is the amazing cake I mentioned this afternoon... (first things first...I did not make this...someone very very talented did. One day I am gonna do copy in homage to it though! Wait and see!)

How awesome is it!??!? In case you dont know I collect tea pots. I am a coffee drinker. Not really a tea drinker. But I love tea pots. And I love tea parties. And quintessential Englishness of it. Not that England is actually like that. But I wish it was.

Me and Gab are watching Supersize Vs Superskinny. Some bloke has lost 9 stone! And still has a way to go! If we lost that we'd be skeletal!! Good on him!

I have no money but...

...on saturday just been I bought a magazine that was £4.25... Just because it was American.

Tip from meeeee .... American Cosmo is an awesome read.

hahahah
Good Afternoon.

Blogging on my lunchbreak is going to be my new favourite thing to do at work.

Little stresses seem to be easing as all my employment bugbears are now pretty much sorted thanks to some little beauty down in Londres. So thats all very nice. Everything is coming together. Also I am going to Germany to see the printing process so thats pretty cool. I love going places. Specially last minute no plans trips. LOVE IT. So next thursday I am off. Whoop.

I want an I Phone. My list of wants is getting LONG.

I Phone.
Kenwood mixer.
Proper website.
Danny from McFly.
Box of paste colours.
Proper food.
The boy to come back.
Lots of money in my pocket solely to spend on SHOES.
A house.
Chickens.
A menagerie of Guinea Pigs.
Internet at home that works.
Laptop.
A new dress.

Theres more. I'll just have to add as days go on... haha.

Saw the most amazing cake ever... So want to try and recreate it. I cant find the picture now but I have it on the computer at home. I will post it later... Its amazing.

Everyone at work is pregnant. Its a hive of hormones.

This is ridiculous...
Who'd have that?!?! Its a disgrace. ITS NOT ME. thanks very much!

Would you rather...eat 150 wasps or have both hands cut off?

I frickin love....

.... the smell of carrot cake baking on an evening.

Would you rather sweat cheese or puke marbles...?

I don't actually know what I love more... the smell of carrot cake on an evening or that question. Oh I am laughing.

(Finch : Letters to You)

Many pictures....

I am fishing through my cake pictures and I thought I would put up some of my favourites...

I made these so that Tara could show her friends pretty cakes...

These are just cool....

Oooh I made these for Shaun when Burnley got into the Premiership. They are vanilla sponge with glace cherries in...
(GO BURNLEY...WOOO!!)

These were Easter cakes sold in FUBAR. They were choc sponge cakes with choc icing but then inside each cake was like either a mini Terrys Chocolate Orange egg or a mini Cadburys Creme Egg....

These cakes are also cool as. Neal at work said he loved my cakes and wanted more. So I asked him what his fave thing was so I could transfer it to cake and he said fishing. (That's Neal that is... Sat on the rock. Ha ha) Ta daaaahhh...

These little beauties are green sponge with minstrels in. Hahah. Coconut coloured green for the grass, little subbuteo men and balls I made outta icing. Also cool...
